The
Young Executive Board',
a unique concept at Godrej, was
formed to work along with the
Group Management Committee (GMC)
of the Godrej Group. The Young
executive board has ten members from
different Godrej companies.
The members of the Board, the
oldest of whom is about 33, will
continue to execute their functions
in the group companies where they
have designated responsibilities.
The
move is part of the group's initiative
to improve corporate governance,
provide more opportunities to
young employees, and to transform
itself into a dynamic and modern
corporate house.
The
board members, currently stationed
in various parts of India, will
meet occasionally for deliberations.
Membership of the board will be
rotational, and it will not be
a statutory body. According to
Adi Godrej, Chairman of the Godrej
Group, the objective behind setting
up the board is to use the knowledge
and enthusiasm of young talent
to take the group forward.
Among
other things, the Young Executive
Board works on strategy for the
group and gives advice to top
management on specific topics
of interest.
Says
Visty Banaji, Executive Director & President
(Group Corporate Affairs), Godrej Industries:
"We aim to harness the enthusiasm,
creativity and the innovative
spirit of these young leaders
through this initiative. They
are equipped to come up with suggestions
and advice which would add value
to the decisions of the management
committee."
