At
the recently held Godrej
Group Awards 2002, the
chemicals business of
Godrej Industries Ltd
was adjudged Best Business
of the Year for 2001-2002.
This came in recognition
of outstanding performance
in areas including improvements
in economic value added,
or EVA. Mathew Eipe, executive
director and president,
Godrej Industries Ltd
received the award at
the hands of Parmeshwar
Godrej, wife of our chairman,
A B Godrej.
TPM initiative launched
May
1, 2002 also saw the kick-off
of total productive maintenance
(TPM) at the Vikhroli
factory of GIL under the
leadership of Mr Anil
Rege. This initiative
to enhance operational
efficiencies has taken
shape under the aegis
of Mr Charles Pinto, TPM
Club of India, under CII.
The company started its
TPM journey on April 3,
2001 by selecting the
alpha olefin sulphonation
plant as a model plant
for TPM activities. With
continuous and focussed
efforts, the plant has
shown excellent results.
Vikhroli factory now
world-class eco-friendly

And with ISO 14001 certification
by BVQI, the Vikhroli
factory is now environment-friendly
in conformity with global
environment standards
and re-emphasises our
commitment to preserve
natural resources.

exports bags award
Godrej Industries Ltd
has been given the first
award by The Chemical
Export Promotion Council
of India (CHEMEXCIL) for
the year 2001-2002. We
featured under the category
of 'Toiletries & Cosmetics',
for outstanding performance
in various categories
of exports, for the fourth
year in a row. The award
was presented by Hon Union
Minister of State for
Commerce and Industry,
Mr Rajiv Pratap Rudy and
received by Mr N B Godrej,
managing director, GIL.
